Directions
to Eastern Shore Training Sites
Below are directions
to most of the training sites. These directions were provided
by the sites, so please contact us or the school itself if you
need more information or directions from a different reference
point. Participants familiar with the internet can also access
fairly accurate directions from your home location by visiting
www.mapquest.com, following
their link to “driving directions” and entering the school's address.

From US 50 East: Traveling
from DC, Baltimore, and Annapolis area: Cross the Bay Bridge.
Follow Rt. 50/301 until it splits, follow Shore Points (50 East).
Take 404 East into Denton (approximately 14 miles). Take the Town
Center Exit. Go through one traffic light, cross the Choptank
River Bridge. Exit right on Business 404. This exit turns into
Franklin Street. The Board office is to your right (a new building
half brick with off white divot on the building). The Board
office is directly in front of Provident State Bank.
From US 50 West: Traveling
from Cambridge, Salisbury, Easton area: Take MD 328 East from
Easton to Denton (approximately 17 miles). Turn right at the traffic
light onto 404 East. Cross the Choptank River Bridge. Exit right
on Business 404. This exit turns into Franklin Street. The Board
office is to your right (a new building half brick with off
white divot on the building). The Board office is directly in
front of Provident State Bank.
From US 13: Traveling
from Seaford, Bridgeville area: Take 404 West into Denton. Take
the Gay Street exit to the left. From the first traffic light,
go three blocks and turn left on Third Street. At the traffic
light continue straight on Third Street. At the corner of Third
and Franklin Streets is Provident State Bank. The Board of Education
office is directly across the street.
From US 301: Traveling
from Cecil, Kent, Harford counties: Several routes connect US
301 with MD 313 (e.g., MD 300 East, MD 302 East, and MD 19). MD
302 into Barclay is perhaps the easiest. Continue South on MD
313 to Denton (approximately 22 miles) pass McDonald’s, Pizza
Hut and State Highway Administration. Go through the traffic light
(at 6th & Gay Street). Turn right on Market Street. At the traffic
light, turn left on Third Street. At the corner of Third and Franklin
Streets is Provident State Bank. The Board of Education office
is directly across the street.

Take a left on state route 331, Dover Road. This will become route
318 Travel on 318 for about 11 miles. At the intersection, cross
313, and turn right onto University Avenue. Go 6 blocks, cross
Academy Avenue. The school is on the corner of University Avenue
and Academy Avenue
If coming from 404:
Take a right on 313. Take a left onto University Avenue. Go 6
blocks, cross Academy Avenue. The school is on the corner of University
Ave & Academy Ave.

From Points East: After
crossing Bay Bridge stay on Rt. 50 to Cambridge. After crossing
the Frederick C. Malkus Bridge into Cambridge, turn right at the
first traffic signal. This is Maryland Avenue. Proceed on Maryland
Avenue, through one traffic signal, over a small bridge, and through
the next traffic signal (the street will bear very slightly to
the right). At the next traffic signal is the firehouse directly
in front of you. Turn left onto Gay Street. Drive to the next
signal, turn right onto Poplar Street. At the next traffic signal,
Poplar Street changes to Locust Street. Keep straight. Drive one
block. There will be a large gray stone church on the left. Turn
left go to the stop sign. The office building is directly in front.
Turn left onto Glasgow St, and then bear right onto the parking
lot.
From Points West: Upon
entering into Cambridge on U.S. Route 50 West, you will go through
4 traffic lights. At the 5th traffic signal (just before the Frederick
C. Malkus Bridge) turn left on to Maryland Avenue. Proceed on
Maryland Avenue, through one traffic signal, over a small bridge,
and through the next traffic signal (the street will bear very
slightly to the right). At the next traffic signal is the firehouse
directly in front of you. Turn left onto Gay Street. Drive to
the next signal, turn right onto Poplar Street. At the next traffic
signal, Poplar Street changes to Locust Street. Keep straight.
Drive one block. There will be a large gray stone church on the
left. Turn left go to the stop sign. The office building is directly
in front. Turn left onto Glasgow Street, and then bear right onto

Hurlock Elementary

From the Bay Bridge and points East:
Take 50 East to Easton. Turn left onto Dover Road/MD 331 and continue for about 18 miles into Hurlock. You will cross some railroad tracks and after two blocks will see a flashing fire department sign. Turn right onto School Street. You will see the fire department and a parking lot. Hurlock will be the white brick building in front of you.
From Salisbury and points West:
Take 50 West to the Vienna Bridge. Exit onto the Rhodesdale-Vienna Rd/331 ramp. Take a left at the bottom of the ramp and go 5.7 miles. Continue until the stop sign by the post office and take a left to stay on 331 for 5 more miles. You will see a school with a track on the left. Take a right here, then a left onto School Street. After less than a ½ mile, turn right onto Charles Street and the school will be on your left.

Maple Elementary

Lower Shore Directions:
Take Route 50 west heading towards Easton and the Bay Bridge.
Just outside of Cambridge city limits, you will see Wal-Mart on
your left and the Hyatt on the right. Turn left at the light onto
Route 16 (also known as Cambridge Beltway or Church Creek Road).
Stay on Route 16 and go through the light. Cambridge South Dorchester
High School will be on the left. Snow’s Turn Market will be on
your right. Proceed to the flashing yellow light. Turn left onto
Egypt Road. Follow Egypt Road to Maple Elementary School on the
left.
Upper Shore Directions:
Take Route 50 East towards Ocean City. After you go across the
Choptank River Bridge, you will go through 4 lights. At the fifth
light, look for the Wal-Mart ( in Dorchester Square). It will
be on the right. Turn right at the light onto Route 16 (also known
as Cambridge Beltway or Church Creek Road). Stay on Route 16 and
go through the light. Cambridge South Dorchester High School will
be on the left. Snow’s Turn Market will be on your right. Proceed
to the flashing yellow light. Turn left onto Egypt Road. Follow
Egypt Road down about _ mile. Maple Elementary School is on the
left.

a Burger King on your left. Go through two lights and continue
straight until you see a firehouse directly in front of you. Take
a left. At the next light, take a right onto Popular Street. Take
a left onto Glen Burn Road. Take a right onto Glasgow Road. The
school will be on your right.
From the West:
Take Route 50 E into Cambridge and go over the Malkus Bridge
Take a right onto Maryland Ave. There will be a Burger King
on your left. Go through two lights and continue straight
until you see a firehouse directly in front of you. Take a
left. At the next light, take a right onto Popular Street.
Take a left onto Glen Burn Road. Take a right onto Glasgow
Road. The school will be on your right.

Millington Elementary School

From Annapolis, MD:
Cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Bear right on US-301 and go Northeast
for 47.1 miles. Turn right on MD-544, McGinnes Rd and go Southeast
for 0.2 miles. Turn left on MD-313 and go Northeast for 2.3 miles
to Sassafras St. Millington Elementary School will be on your
right as you head out of town.
From Dover, DE: Take
SR-8 West for 6.1 miles. Turn right on SR-44 and go Northwest
for 6.7 miles. Turn right on SR-44 and go Northwest for 6.7 miles.
Turn left on SR-300, Sudlersville Rd and go West for 0.3 miles.
Continue on MD-300 and go West for 6.2 miles. Turn right on MD-313
and go North for 6.1 miles to Sassafras St. Millington Elementary
School will be on your right as you head out of town.
From Wilimington, DE:
Take I95 South to Route 896. Take 896 South toward Middletown.
896 becomes US Route 301 South. Travel 23.3 miles Southwest on
US 301. Turn left on MD-291 and go East for 1.5 miles. Turn left
on MD-313, Sassafras St and go Northeast for 0.2 miles. Millington
Elementary School will be on your right.
From Denton, MD: Start
out going North on MD-404/MD-619/N 6TH ST towards Market Street
by turning left. Turn left onto MD-404 BR W/Gay St. MD-404 BR
W/Gay St. becomes MD-404 BR. Turn left onto MD-404 W. Turn slightly
right onto US-50 West. Stay straight to go onto MD-213. Take the
US-301 N ramp towards Wilmington. Merge onto US-301 N. and go
21.61 miles. Stay straight to go onto ramp. Turn right onto Howard
Johnson Road. Enter next roundabout and take 2nd exit onto MD-291.
Turn left onto MD-299/MD-313. MD-299/MD-313 becomes MD-313.

Middle School from “the bridge”: Take Rt 50 to the RT301-50 split.
Take RT 301 go under the overhead pass that goes into Centreville.
After you go under the overhead pass about 1-1/4 mile on the left
take a left on Rolling Bridge Rd. Come to the stop sign look across
the street and you will see our school.

East: Turn left to take US-50 East/US-301 North for 8.8 miles.
Continue on US-301 North towards Wilmington for 7.3 miles. Turn
left and take Rolling Ridge Road for 1 mile. Turn left on Ruthsburg
Road. Arrive at 125 Ruthsburg Road after .4 miles.
From Worcester County and points South: Get on US-50/Ocean Gateway
going North. Continue on Ocean Gtwy across the Senator Frederick
C Malkus Bridge. Continue on Ocean Gtwy for 26 miles. Continue
on Centreville Road for 6.1 miles. Centreville Rd becomes MD-213
North, continue for 0.5 miles. Turn right on East Water Street
and go 0.7 miles. East Water Street becomes Ruthsburg Road. Arrive
at 125 Ruthsburg Road after .1 miles.

Turn Right on Glen Ave - go 0.2 mi.
Arrive at 1615 Glen Avenue Ext, Salisbury, on the Right.

From US 50 West:

on Rte. 50 West through Salisbury to Mill Street; get in the right
hand lane; cross over the bridge and turn right at the next traffic
light -Lake Street. Proceed on Lake Street through two traffic
lights and proceed to Morris Street (on the left). Turn left,
school on the right. Park in the parking lot in front of the school.
From the West: Take
Rte. 50 East, headed to Salisbury. After you pass the construction
area for the new Rte. 50 by-pass, get in the left hand lane, Proceed
in this lane about 1 mile to the Maryland National Guard Armory
- American Legion on your right. Turn left on Booth Street. Proceed
to next intersection and turn left onto West Road. Proceed on
West Road to Morris Street. Turn right on Morris Street and proceed
to school on left. Park in the parking lot in front of the school.

the stop sign. Turn left onto Route 575 (Worcester Hwy). At next
stop sign, take a right onto Route 589. Showell E.S. will be approx.
1/4 mile on your left.
From points South (i.e.
Pocomoke):
Take Route 113 North. Around milepost 32, begin looking for the
Ocean Pines/Route 589 exit. Take that exit to stop sign. Take
a left onto Route 575 (Worcester Hwy). At stop sign, take a right
onto Route 589. Showell E.S. will be approx. 1/4 mile on your
left.
From points North (i.e.
Dover):
Take Route 113 South. Once you enter Maryland, look for the exit
sign for Ocean Pines/Route 589 (this will occur approx. 5 miles
south of the state line). Take the Ocean Pines/Route 589 exit
on your right. Go to stop light. Take a left onto Route 589. Showell
E.S. will be approx. 1/4 mile on your left.

after a small bridge make a right onto Market Street. Almost immediately
make a left onto MD-12 N. Church Street. Make a right onto Coulbourne
Drive. The school will be approximately 0.5 miles down the road
on your right.

Traveling Rt 50 East into Easton, turn right on Goldsborough St.
Traveling Rt 50 West make a left on Goldsborough St. Landmarks
at this intersection are Pizza Hut, Hardees, Exxon, and CVS. After
your turn, the Country School is on the left and The First Wesleyan
Church is right after that, also on the left. It is a large red,
brick building with a sign in the front.
