North Carolina Directions

Below are directions to most of the training sites. These directions were provided by the sites, so please contact us or the school itself if you need more information or directions from a different reference point. Participants familiar with the internet can also access fairly accurate directions from your home location by visiting www.mapquest.com, following their link to “driving directions” and entering the school's address.

From I-40:
Exit 266 onto Hwy 86/Airport Road towards Chapel Hill. Proceed 1.0 mile on Airport Rd. Turn right at the traffic light onto Homestead Rd. Proceed 1.0 mile on Homestead. Turn left at the traffic light onto Seawell School Rd. Proceed 0.5 miles to the back entrance, athletic field entrance, of Smith Middle School. CCEE is on the left side of the parking lot.

Parking:
Free parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis in the lots in front of CCEE. Overflow parking is available in the middle school lots - please do not park along the curb leading into the parking areas or in front of the dumpsters before 5:00 p.m.

From Interstate 40:
Take Exit 298-B South Saunders Street North. Follow McDowell Street in the direction of downtown. Turn right on Morgan Street and follow to Wilmington Street and make a left turn. Follow Wilmington Street four blocks. DPI is on the left.

From Route 70 West:
Stay on Glenwood Avenue to Peace Street. Make a left turn onto Peace and follow to Blount Street and make a right turn. Follow Blount Street to North Street and make a right turn onto North. DPI is straight ahead.

From Route 64 East:
Come into town on New Bern Avenue, which becomes Edenton Street. Make a right turn onto Wilmington Street and follow Wilmington for four blocks. DPI is on the left.

From Route 1 North:
Take Downtown Boulevard which becomes Dawson Street. Turn left on Jones Street and follow to Wilmington Street and make a left turn and continue two blocks. DPI is on the left.

From I-40 East:
Take I-40 East towards Greensboro. Take the High Point Rd exit # 217. Cross over High Point Rd, the Sheraton will be on your left. Turn left at the next light for the Sheraton Main Entrance.

Take exit 186 onto Highway 15 North. Follow Highway 15 North to Highway 56 in Creedmoor. Take 56 East to US Highway 401 North. Take US Highway 401 North into Louisburg. Turn left onto Justice Street (the fifth light). Turn left onto North Main Street. Turn right onto College Street. Take the first right off of College Street into our parking lot.

From I-440/I-40 East (from Raleigh and Points South):
From I-440 North or East take exit 11-B onto Capital Boulevard. Take US Highway 401 North - follow US 401 into Louisburg. Turn left onto Justice Street (the fifth light). Turn left onto North Main Street. Turn right onto College Street. Take the first right off of College Street into our parking lot.

From I-74 West (Hoke County):
As you approach Charlotte, take I-485 West. Exit onto I-77 North. Exit onto Nations Ford Rd (Exit 4). Turn right. The school is on the right and is identified with a large green sign.

As you approach Charlotte, continue on I-74 past I-485. Take the North Wendover Rd. Southbound Ramp. Turn left onto Sharon Rd. Turn right onto Runnymede Rd. Turn right onto Colony Rd. The school is on the left. (NOTE: sign says Selwyn Elementary School).

Take US 70 East/South toward Clayton/Smithfield/Goldsboro (Exit 95). Take the US-13 North/ US 70 Bypass East/ US 117 Bypass North ramp. Merge back onto I-70 East to New Bern. In New Bern, take the Bridgeton/Washington exit (US 17 N) over the bridge. Stay on 17 Business/43 for 13 miles to Vanceboro. From US 70 East (Wayne Co.):
Take I-70 East for approx. 17 miles. Take 70-ALT to E. Vernon Ave./NC-11 BR. Turn left onto NC-11 N/NC-55 East. Turn right onto NC-118. Turn right onto NC-118/Queen St. Turn slightly right onto NC-43. Turn left onto Mill Rd. Turn left onto Farm Life Ave. The school is at the end of the road.

Dare County

Turn right onto South Virginia Dare Trail (heading north) leaving Nags Head Inn. Continue on South Virginia Dare Trail (also called the Beach Road or Hiway 12) for approximately 5 and 1/2 miles. Turn left at the stop light at the corner of South Virginia Dare Trail and Ocean Bay Blvd. (Landmark - Stop N Shop Convenience Store and Gas Station on left at light). Continue on Ocean Bay Blvd. going straight through the first stop light. Ocean Bay Blvd. changes its name to Colington Road at this stop light. Continue down Colington Road for less than 1/2 mile. Turn left at the next stop light onto Veteran's Drive. Landmark - The Wright Memorial will be to your right. Continue straight on Veteran's Drive for a short distance. Pass the high school on the right. Once past the high school, First Flight Elementary is visible ahead, slightly to the right. To access the parking lot, enter and go around the small traffic circle, exiting on the road to the left of First Flight Elementary. Turn right into the parking lot.

When coming to the Outer Baniks, you can use the new bridge, which will bypass a town called Manns Harbor and Manteo proper. Coming from the beach, take either 12 South (Virginia Dare Trail) or 158 South (Croatian Highway) until they intersect with the road to Hatteras National Seashore and 64 West. Take 645 West, across the causeway and over the high bridge to Manteo. Follow the signs to Manteo and the school will be on the right across from a Farm Bureau office and the public library. Parking is very limited so use the library’s lot and then cross the street to the elementary building.

Take US-74 East (toward Monroe) for approx. 75 miles. Turn left onto Old Wire Rd. (approx 12 miles). (NOTE: this turn is in the town of Laurel Hill, after Rockingham but before Laurinburg. If you miss it, you can go North onto US-401 in Laurinburg). Turn left onto US-401/South Main St. (approx. 10 miles). Turn right onto E. Palmer Rd. Turn right onto NC-211. Take next right onto Old Maxton Rd. The school is approx. 4 miles on the left.

From US-70 West (Wayne and Craven Counties):
Exit onto I-95 South. Exit onto US-301 South/I-95 BR (Exit 56) toward Fayetteville/Fort Bragg/Pope AFB. Continue on I-95 Business. Turn right onto Owen Dr. (will see signs that say “To 401” before turn). Take first exit onto US 401/Raeford Rd. Turn left onto 401/Raeford Rd. Continue on Raeford Rd. (approx. 12-15 miles). Turn left onto 401 Business Route toward Raeford (there will be signs for Raeford). Turn left onto N. Main St./ US-211. Turn right onto Old Maxton Rd. (after intersection with Palmer). The school is approx. 4 miles on the left.

From I40 E:
Take Exit 408 from I40 E. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right and proceed to the stop light. Turn left at the stop light, onto Hwy. 117. After approximately 1 mile, there will be a green sign on the right side of the road, that says Rocky Point Primary School. Turn left at that sign, onto Rocky Point Elementary School Road. The school is located on the left.

From Hwy. 17:
When you get into Hampstead, turn right onto Hwy. 210. (There is a stop light, and Food Lion is on the left.) Proceed for approximately 4-5 miles, and turn right where you see the first blue sign that says to I40. This is Highway 210. Shortly after you turn, there will be a stop sign. Turn right there, onto Hwy. 210. Follow this road for approximately 10 miles. Just after you cross over I40, there will be a stop light. Turn left there onto Hwy. 117. Approximately a mile down that road, look for the green Rocky Point Primary sign on the right. Turn left at that sign onto Elementary School Road. The school is located on the left.

South Topsail Elementary School

From I40 East:
Take Exit 408. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left on Highway 210. Take this road to the very end. (about 10 miles) At the stop sign, turn left onto Holly Shelter Road. Follow this road until it ends at Highway 17. At the stop light, turn left. Go to the next stop light and turn left again, on Hoover Road. South Topsail is located on the left, about .5 of a mile down Hoover Road.

From Hwy. 17:
Take Hwy 17 South. When you get to Hampstead, look for the big red brick building on the left, which is Cape Fear Community College. XYZ Pizza and Subway are located next to that. There is a stop light there, and Seafood World is located on the right. Turn right at that stop light, onto Hoover Road. South Topsail is located about a mile down Hoover Road on the left.

From US 70 West (Craven Co.):
Go approximately 45-50 miles on US 70 West. Turn right onto N. Beston Rd. Turn left onto New Hope Rd. School is on the right.
